Established in 1891 and growing for well over a century, N.B. Handy Company services commercial, residential and mechanical contractors throughout the mid-Atlantic and southeastern United States. We are dedicated to developing relationships and creating programs that support the growth of our customers’ businesses. Armed with a staff of approximately 450 employees, we listen to our customers and anticipate their changing product and service needs for the best possible support in the industry.

| Historical Milestones |
- 1891 Nathan B. Handy founded N. B. Handy Company as a supplier of metals, metal fabricating machinery and hardware materials for the roofing and general sheet metal trades around Lynchburg, Virginia.
- 1900s N.B. Handy continues to grow through the World War I and the Great Depression to become a regional supplier of materials through much of western Virginia, West Virginia, and western North Carolina.
- 1940s After World War II ended, a new market for warm air heating and air conditioning systems emerged. N.B. Handy Company quickly responded by adding materials for this new market while continuing to serve the roofing and sheet metal trades.
- 1965 The first branch opened in Roanoke, Virginia.
- 1970s N.B. Handy quickly expands with the establishment of locations in Raleigh and Greensboro, North Carolina and Richmond Virginia. In 1974 a steel-processing center is established in Lynchburg, Virginia.
- 1980s Three more locations were established in Norfolk, Virginia, Charlotte, North Carolina and Greenville, South Carolina.
- 1990s The company continued its history of successful growth through the 90's, establishing facilities in Capitol Heights and Baltimore, Maryland, Atlanta, Georgia and Columbia, South Carolina.
- 1992 N.B. Handy became the exclusive rep/distributor for Carlisle SynTec Single Ply Roofing Systems throughout the existing territory.
- 1993 The company established the machinery sales division to focus on sheet metal fabricating machinery sales and service.
- 2003 N.B. Handy celebrates the opening of a new branch in Orlando, FL. In March the company begins representing Fabral Metal Wall and Roofing Systems, offering a complete line of Architectural Metals featuring the private label, Sentriclad®.
- 2004 Nordyne, leading manufacturer of heating and cooling systems, awarded N.B. Handy Kelvinator Distributor status.
- 2005 Nordyne awards N.B. Handy with Westinghouse distributorship in almost half of their existing markets.
- 2006 In March, N.B. Handy opened a new sales and distribution Center in Nashville, TN. In April, N.B. Handy entered into an exclusive agreement with Johns Manville for single-ply roofing products for commercial applications in Florida. As the sole distributor in Florida, the company now carries JM's complete line of PVC, TPO, EPDM & supplies.
- 2007 N.B. Handy opens its 15th branch location with a full service sales and distribution Center in Boca Raton, FL. In October, N.B. Handy acquires Morris Ginsberg & Co. expanding the company’s commercial roofing services and creating a platform to launch into residential roofing.
