Raleigh, N.C. Contractor Wins Quadro Plus Equipment Worth $70K in Dealer Promotion

(Chicago, IL) Oct. 14, 2005 –Tri City Insulation and Building Products, of Raleigh, N.C., has won a new Schlebach Quadro Plus portable rollforming machine valued at nearly $70,000, in a contest sponsored by N.B. Handy Company, in association with FABRAL Architectural Metals and Metalforming, Inc. The winning entry was drawn from among hundreds of entries from hopeful contractors at the MetalCon International Trade Show held Oct. 4-6 in Chicago, Ill.

Tom Metzger, branch manager of Tri City, said his company is thrilled to be the contest winner. “Winning the Quadro opens all types of new business opportunities to us,” says Metzger, branch manager for the 105-employee company. “It will have a huge impact on our revenue and allow us to open an entirely new market in commercial roofing, something we’ve been thinking of doing for some time. Now we have the perfect product to do so.”

Metzger says that the Quadro Plus, widely recognized as the standard for jobsite panforming equipment, will allow his company to expand its residential roofing sales as well, which had comprised less than 10 percent of revenue. “I admit that when our N.B. Handy representative Sharon Biers called me, I had a hard time believing that we actually had won,” he says. “Having the capabilities of the Quadro allows us to grow in ways that we’ve only begun to identify.”

Claire Kilcoyne, director of the MetalCon International Trade Show, drew the winning entry at the N.B. Handy Booth in front of a large crowd. The contest drew interest from the 6,500 attendees at this year’s 15th anniversary show, said Kilcoyne, who organizes the 650-booth show annually for contractors, architects, and suppliers in the building industry.

N.B. Handy announced the contest in February at the International Roofing Expo in Orlando, Fla. as a joint promotion by Metalforming, Inc., the U.S. distributor of the Quadro Plus, and FABRAL Architectural Metals, manufacturer of SentriClad® Kynar steel slit coil panels used in the Quadro. N.B. Handy Company is the exclusive North American distributor of SentriClad® Kynar steel products.

Geoff Stone, CEO/Owner of Metalforming, Inc., U.S. distributor of the Quadro Plus, says the versatile jobsite panformer has proven to be a solid workhorse on the job, drawing from Schlebach’s decades of design and manufacturing excellence to set the standard for reliability, portability and ease of use. “We were pleased to team with N.B. Handy to be a part of this contest, which has helped to raise the awareness of the capabilities of the Quadro Plus,” says Stone. “N.B. Handy is our largest dealer and their representatives have done an excellent job in promoting the metal roofing industry and showing what the Quadro can do on the jobsite.”

Stone adds that the metal roofing industry has grown exponentially in recent years, as customers discover its many benefits, such as long life, variety of patterns and colors, and lower life cycle cost.

Kit Emert, general manager of FABRAL architectural system, agreed that the contest was an excellent way to demonstrate the versatility of the Quadro using FABRAL Senticlad coil products. “N.B. Handy is one of our most valued partners, so we were pleased to co-sponsor this contest,” he said. “Not only did it raise the awareness of the Quadro’s jobsite capabilities, but it showcased our roof system metals as well.” Headquartered in Lancaster, Pa., FABRAL makes both commercial and residential roof systems as well as metal sidewall material, says Emert.

N.B. Handy Company is one of the country’s largest wholesale distributors of HVAC Equipment and Supplies for Residential, Commercial, and Industrial use, Commercial Roofing and Waterproofing supplies, and Precision Metal Fabricating Machinery, including on-site repair and service.
